The Ancash II LL walking boot from the Hanwag brand is a stable and comfortable hiking boot that is perfect for long trekking tours with a full load. The hiking boot has more room in the forefoot thanks to an innovative Hanwag StraightFit last and modified sole unit. Furthermore, the hiking boot has a very stable shaft made of high-quality nubuck leather and has extra comfort at the instep with excellent lateral stability. The lining of the walking boot is made of leather, making the shoe very comfortable, while the walking boot also has the innovative Hanwag Trekking SF midsole and the Vibram® trekking SF profile sole that provide more cushioning without sacrificing strength and stability. The walking boot is in category B / C for walking shoes.

If there is no mention of a specific type of fit, then you can assume that the shoe in question has a standard / average fit. HANWAG Narrow fit is suitable for those with a smaller foot width, HANWAG Wide fit is suitable for those with a larger foot width, and HANWAG Bunion fit is suitable for people whose big toe is crooked and bends towards their other toes (Hallux Valgus). When trekking and hiking, it's of vital importance that your footwear fits properly and comfortably. Your heel needs to sit securely in the back and your toes need to have enough room in the front. You can test this by putting the shoes on without tying up the laces. If it seems that there is a bit too much room at the sides or that it's a bit loose, then the heel is too wide for your feet. A top tip for checking if a shoe is the right size for you is seeing whether there is enough space for you to fit your finger between the tip of the shoe and your toes. If there is not enough space, then the shoe is too large; it's important to have this space so as to prevent your toes hitting the shoe when walking downhill.
Category B/C
The hiking shoes in B/C are suitable for the rugged landscape and are recommended for hiking with a heavy backpack. The boots have a higher and firmer shaft than the walking shoes in category B, allowing the ankle to be better supported. The boots also feature a stiffer sole, meaning you are less affected by the ground. However, for a real rocky walk, we recommend the hiking boots from category C.
