Walking Boots Hanwag Kofel Mid Special Edition Cognac/Gemse
Item description
Hanwag's Kofel is a special version of a classic Derby shoe. This stylish shoe does not only look good but will also support you well while hiking. This shoe has extra reinforcements at the heel cap for even more protection. The leather used for this shoe is tanned, without the use of chromate, so this shoe is also suitable for people who normally suffer from a leather allergy. The lining is also made from chromate-free leather. The rubber outer sole of this shoe provides a lot of stability and a lot of grip so you can walk even better on unpaved or trickier paths.
Hanwag Size Guide
Hanwag works with specific shoe sizes. You can use our size guide below to determine the size you need. Note: The sizes and dimensions are simply indications and can sometimes differ. HANWAG makes use of specific shoe fittings, for example a Narrow fit, Wide fit, or Bunion fit. If a HANWAG shoe has been designed with a special fit, this is mentioned in the product title / description. If there is no mention of a specific type of fit, then you can assume that the shoe in question has a standard / average fit. HANWAG Narrow fit is suitable for those with a smaller foot width, HANWAG Wide fit is suitable for those with a larger foot width, and HANWAG Bunion fit is suitable for people whose big toe is crooked and bends towards their other toes (Hallux Valgus). When trekking and hiking, it's of vital importance that your footwear fits properly and comfortably. Your heel needs to sit securely in the back and your toes need to have enough room in the front. You can test this by putting the shoes on without tying up the laces. If it seems that there is a bit too much room at the sides or that it's a bit loose, then the heel is too wide for your feet. A top tip for checking if a shoe is the right size for you is seeing whether there is enough space for you to fit your finger between the tip of the shoe and your toes. If there is not enough space, then the shoe is too large; it's important to have this space so as to prevent your toes hitting the shoe when walking downhill.

Design-flaw
- Looks
- Craftmanship stitching sole
- Comfort
- Leather too thin and vulnerable on both outside and inside
- Eats shoelaces due to sloppy sewing on inside tongue
- Sole relatively thin -> surface you walk on becomes apparent
After just 5 months the leather lining cracked at the side of the heel due to a lack of stable inner heelcap and too thin a leather - designflaw! A working-style boot requires materials stronger than those used in elegant shoes - which Hanwag apparently did here, and I wonder why!!
