Item description

The Ferrata II walking boot from Hanwag is specially designed to explore new terrains. The boot combines a long lifespan with technical functionality. The boot is ideal for alpine activities, such as treading difficult via ferratas or alpine tours on rocks and ice. The innovative Hanwag TubeTec Rock Vibram sole with an extremely cushioning PU midsole protects, stabilises, and supports during intensive hikes. The TPU reinforcements create a climbing zone on the sole for maximum grip and control. The modern and functional upper is based on Hanwag LFX (Lateral Flex) technology and allows lateral flexibility. The new Hanwag Ferrata II is extremely lightweight, but this does not detract from its functionality. Finally, the boot is waterproof and breathable due to the Gore-Tex membrane. This hiking boot is perfect if you are looking for a shoe that is suitable for challenging mountain tours with a heavy load.

Hanwag Size Guide

Hanwag works with specific shoe sizes. You can use our size guide below to determine the size you need. Note: The sizes and dimensions are simply indications and can sometimes differ. HANWAG makes use of specific shoe fittings, for example a Narrow fit, Wide fit, or Bunion fit. If a HANWAG shoe has been designed with a special fit, this is mentioned in the product title / description. If there is no mention of a specific type of fit, then you can assume that the shoe in question has a standard / average fit. HANWAG Narrow fit is suitable for those with a smaller foot width, HANWAG Wide fit is suitable for those with a larger foot width, and HANWAG Bunion fit is suitable for people whose big toe is crooked and bends towards their other toes (Hallux Valgus). When trekking and hiking, it's of vital importance that your footwear fits properly and comfortably. Your heel needs to sit securely in the back and your toes need to have enough room in the front. You can test this by putting the shoes on without tying up the laces. If it seems that there is a bit too much room at the sides or that it's a bit loose, then the heel is too wide for your feet. A top tip for checking if a shoe is the right size for you is seeing whether there is enough space for you to fit your finger between the tip of the shoe and your toes. If there is not enough space, then the shoe is too large; it's important to have this space so as to prevent your toes hitting the shoe when walking downhill.

The hiking boots in category C are suitable for heavy trecking in the mountains, for example, a multi-day alpine hike in the Alps. The shoes have a stiff sole that is suitable for flexible crampons. The shoes are also suitable for rock climbing. Using these shoes for a flat walk is not recommended, as the stiff sole makes normal foot motion almost impossible on flat ground.
