Item description

Hanwag's Alaska Winter is a comfortable and versatile shoe that comes more and more into its own as the terrain becomes more challenging. This shoe has a leather top and is designed so that almost no seams are used for the construction. This way there will be no rough spots on your foot during long walks. Thanks to the high shaft of this shoe, the ankle is well supported and you enjoy optimum protection. Gore-Tex material is used for the lining of this shoe, which ensures that water cannot enter the shoe, but perspiration can evaporate. This way your feet will remain protected against moisture and will not feel damp. The Vibram outsole of this shoe provides great grip and good cushioning, even on uneven terrain. For optimal grip during climbing or during descents, a part of the studs of the profile is placed slanted. The Alaska hiking shoes are waterproof and the G-LOFT® FIT insulation material keeps your feet nice and warm. The shoes are suitable for attaching crampons. Perfect for hiking and long walks on challenging terrain and in cold temperatures!

Hanwag Size Guide

Hanwag works with specific shoe sizes. You can use our size guide below to determine the size you need. Note: The sizes and dimensions are simply indications and can sometimes differ. HANWAG makes use of specific shoe fittings, for example a Narrow fit, Wide fit, or Bunion fit. If a HANWAG shoe has been designed with a special fit, this is mentioned in the product title / description. If there is no mention of a specific type of fit, then you can assume that the shoe in question has a standard / average fit. HANWAG Narrow fit is suitable for those with a smaller foot width, HANWAG Wide fit is suitable for those with a larger foot width, and HANWAG Bunion fit is suitable for people whose big toe is crooked and bends towards their other toes (Hallux Valgus). When trekking and hiking, it's of vital importance that your footwear fits properly and comfortably. Your heel needs to sit securely in the back and your toes need to have enough room in the front. You can test this by putting the shoes on without tying up the laces. If it seems that there is a bit too much room at the sides or that it's a bit loose, then the heel is too wide for your feet. A top tip for checking if a shoe is the right size for you is seeing whether there is enough space for you to fit your finger between the tip of the shoe and your toes. If there is not enough space, then the shoe is too large; it's important to have this space so as to prevent your toes hitting the shoe when walking downhill.

Category C

The hiking boots in category C are suitable for heavy trecking in the mountains, for example, a multi-day alpine hike in the Alps. The shoes have a stiff sole that is suitable for flexible crampons. The shoes are also suitable for rock climbing. Using these shoes for a flat walk is not recommended, as the stiff sole makes normal foot motion almost impossible on flat ground.
